"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day"

Text: Revelation 1:10

THE LORD’S DAY

The Apostle John used a phrase that is now commonly utilised by Christians. The Lord’s Day is a reference to Sunday. Sabbath remains a word associated with Judaism. It was on the first day of the week that the Lord Jesus rose from the dead. In His honour, John used this phrase to describe Sunday.

“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,’ and, ‘What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.'”
