“Say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns…” Psalm 96:10a
A MESSAGE FOR THE WORLD
True worship of God is never confining. The worshipper who has come into the sanctuary of God and has understood who God is will have a message that he would want to share with the world.
“Say among the nations,
‘The LORD reigns; the world also is firmly established,
It shall not be moved; He shall judge the peoples righteously.'”
Psalm 96:10
1. “Say among the nations”
a) The psalmist felt compelled to share his faith with the world.
b) All nations deserve to know this great Creator-God who is full of honour and glory.
c) The worshipper is encouraged to do his part in spreading “the gospel”.
2. Content of the message
a) “The LORD reigns”
i) The Lord is King over all the earth.
ii) He rules from His throne in heaven.
b) “The world also is firmly established”
i) The world may sometimes appear chaotic (wars and rumours of wars).
ii) But from the standpoint of knowledge and faith the world is “firmly established”.
c) “It shall not be moved”
i) The world may sometimes appear to be unstable, out of control.
ii) This is not true. God has established the world and it shall not be moved.
d) “He shall judge the peoples righteously”
i) God is both King and Judge.
ii) This is a theme that runs through the Bible consistently.
iii) This same God would one day judge the world.
And His judgment will be conducted in full righteousness.
