A GREAT CALL TO WORSHIP

How do you view worship? To many, worship has become a mere duty that must be fulfilled. The psalmist would beg to differ. Worship is anything but routine!

“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.”
Psalm 95:1-2

1. Corporate worship is in view

a) “Oh come”
There is a heartwarming word of encouragement to worship God.
b) “Come before His presence”
Worship is entering into the Presence of the Lord! This is an awesome thought.

2. Series of exhortation employing the phrase “Let us…”

a) “Let us sing to the Lord”
Worship involves singing. However worship is not limited to singing.
b) “Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation”
i) The word “shout” complements the word “sing”.
ii) There must be a sense of energy in the way we sing to the Lord.
iii) The focus is always on the Lord Himself (and never the song or the music).
iv) How our hearts must desire to shout aloud our faith in the Lord our Saviour and Rock.
c) “Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving”
i) A heart that is filled with a sense of thanksgiving becomes a driving force in worship.
ii) We have so much to be thankful for! Let thanksgiving be our reason to worship God.
d) “Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms”
i) Psalms were the hymns of the ancient days.
ii) Well-written psalms enhanced the worship experience.
