Day 25 – Psalm 92

“To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning…” Psalm 92:2a

WHAT SHALL WE THANK GOD FOR?

The psalmist offers much food for thought as to what we should thank God for.

“To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night.”
Psalm 92:2

1. Two great themes

a) God’s lovingkindness
b) God’s faithfulness

2. The Sabbath day

a) “In the morning”
It is good to be filled with thoughts of the lovingkindness of God.
b) “Every night”
It is good to be filled with thoughts of God’s faithfulness.

3. Not limited to worship time

a) These thoughts of God are not limited to Sabbath worship.
b) The Sabbath is a full 24-hour period.

4. True Sabbath rest

a) The heart and mind are filled with thoughts of God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness.
b) The day is filled with songs of praise and thanksgiving.
c) The heart and mind ought to be saturated with the LORD.

5. Beyond the Sabbath day

a) The phrase “every night” suggests that this sense of thanksgiving is not limited to the Sabbath day.
b) The Sabbath day ought to affect the rest of the week.
c) The whole week may be wonderfully filled with great thoughts of God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness.
