Day 176 – Psalm 79

“Where is their God?” Psalm 79:10b

PLEADING WITH GREAT MIGHT

Asaph lamented deeply the fall of Jerusalem. But he was not trapped in his feelings of sadness. He felt that there was a way out yet. The road to deliverance was to be found in prayer. And pray he did. He sent up petition after petition. He prayed tirelessly.

“Why should the nations say,
‘Where is their God?’
Let there be known among the nations in our sight
The avenging of the blood of Your servants which
has been shed.”
Psalm 79:10

d) That great name must not be besmirched further!

3. “Let there be known among the nations in our sight”

a) Asaph was concerned with the here and now.
b) He pleaded that the wicked nations may not dishonour God’s name further.

4. “The avenging of the blood of Your servants which has been shed”

a) Surely God would avenge the blood of His servants.
