“And He gave ear to me.” Psalm 77:1b

VARIOUS MINISTRIES

The Levites were special assistants to the priests. They offered a number of services:-

1. They were involved in worship.

2. They offered musical support.

3. They composed psalms.

a) For reading

b) For singing

c) For prayer

d) For personal contemplation

THE MINISTRY OF PRAYER

All Levites and priests were involved in the ministry of prayer in particular.

“I cried out to God with my voice-
To God with my voice;
And He gave ear to me.”
Psalm 77:1

1. “I cried out to God”

a) This is a definite reference to prayer.

b) The Levites stood as intercessors for the nation of Israel together with the priests.

2. “With my voice”

a) The prayers offered were “public prayers”.

b) They were meant for the congregation to hear as well.

3. “And He gave ear to me”

a) Asaph was thankful that God had heard his voice.

b) With deep gratitude he acknowledged that God had heard his prayer.

c) This word would have brought much encouragement and edification to the congregation.
