Day 52 – Psalm 75

“I will judge uprightly.” Psalm 75:2b

STRONG APPEALS MADE TO GOD

The psalmist had made many petitions to God. Again and again he pleaded with God to rise up for the cause of the poor and needy. But there had been no answers forthcoming.

GOD’S REPLY

God now gave a special word to the psalmist. This reply is recorded in the following text.

“When I choose the proper time,
I will judge uprightly.”
Psalm 75:2

1. “When I choose the proper time”

a) The psalmist had not factored in this angle of time.
b) He had only been insistent that God had to come to the rescue of His people with great haste.
c) God’s reply was highly instructive:-
i) God factors in the time element.
ii) He also factors in the fact of His sovereign right to choose the timing.
d) Man does not always understand or appreciate God’s timing.
e) He seems to be caught up with the here and now.

2. “I will judge uprightly”

a) God assures the psalmist that He will judge the wicked.
b) That God would judge should never have been questioned.
c) But of course God would not fail to judge.
d) And God will judge uprightly too.
i) Uprightness is ever one of God’s attributes.
ii) Hence His judgment would be according to His Divine uprightness.
iii) He will not err in His judgment.
iv) All who trust in Him will not be ashamed.
