Day 8 – Psalm 73

“Pride serves as their necklace…” Psalm 73:6a

FAMILIARITY WITH THE WISDOM LITERATURE

Asaph seems to display knowledge of the Wisdom Literature of Israel. The Book of Proverbs (part of the Wisdom Literature) has much to say against the following:-

1. The wicked (Proverbs 4:14-19)

2. The boastful (Proverbs 20:6; 25:14)

3. The sin of pride (Proverbs 6:17a)

4. The sin of violence (Proverbs 6:17c)

Asaph knew that these were sins that God was upset with. Yet, it seems as if the wicked-rich were getting away with their sinful activities!

AGGRIEVED FURTHER

Asaph continued to chafe under the skin as he thought about the wicked-rich.

“Therefore pride serves as their necklace;
Violence covers them like a garment.”
