SACRED MUSIC
The task of the Levitical Singers consisted a number of things:-
1. To compose music
a) Weekly Sabbath worship
b) Religious feasts
c) Special occasions (e.g. Dedication of the Temple of Solomon)
2. To present songs with the following objectives in mind:-
a) To instruct
b) To inquire
c) To intercede
d) To inspire
3. To teach Israel
a) To sing praises to God
b) To bless the Lord’s name in song
A GLIMPSE OF HOW SACRED COMPOSITIONS WERE MADE
We have a glimpse of how sacred songs were composed.

1. Main Theme
a) God and His relationship to His people.
b) God’s relationship to Israel.
c) God’s relationship to the pure in heart.
2. A major thought
God had always been good to Israel and in particular to those who are pure in heart! This was an excellent theme to dwell upon and to develop.
