“Surely You set them in slippery places…” Psalm 73:18a

PRAYING FOR UNDERSTANDING

Asaph was correct and wise in seeking enlightenment from God in prayer. Deep and true wisdom come from God. However, the seeker of wisdom must be prepared to persevere in prayer.

1. Praying in anguish of heart.

2. Persevering in prayer if no immediate answers were forthcoming.

3. Praying in anticipation of God answering prayer.

A DEEP AND SOLEMN ANSWER

“Surely You set them in slippery places;
You cast them down to destruction.”
Psalm 73:18

1. You

a) God is involved.
b) God has not distanced Himself from the affairs of man.
c) God may be silent but He continues to watch over mankind.

2. God’s actions against the wicked

a) God will take action against the wicked.
b) His action will be strong and deliberate against them.
c) The wicked will never prevail ultimately.

3. Two actions understood

a) God has set the wicked in slippery places.
b) Their lifestyle may seem secure, but that is only an illusion.
c) God will cast them down.
d) They will ultimately be destroyed.
