“They set their mouth against the heavens…” Psalm 73:9a

HOW FAR WOULD THE WICKED-RICH GO?

The wicked-rich seem to be untouched by problems that many experience in life. Their wickedness appears to go unchecked. How far would the wicked-rich go?

“They set their mouth against the heavens,
And their tongue walks through the earth.”
Psalm 73:9

1. “They set their mouth against the heavens”

a) Arrogance has set in.
i) The word “heavens” is a reference to God.
ii) There is no fear of God.
iii) There is little regard for Him.
b) Expressions of arrogance.
i) The wicked-rich would raise their voice against God.
ii) They dare to do this because they have no regard for Him.

2. “And their tongue walks through the earth”

a) The wicked-rich are never content with their local power base.
b) They seek to expand their power.
c) If possible they would like to influence or control the earth.
i) They could export their wicked ways.
ii) They could establish contacts with others overseas.
iii) The ultimate goal is always a global presence.

THE PROBLEM OF WICKEDNESS

Wickedness knows no bounds! It will spread its tentacles of power. The wicked-rich would even defy God. They figured that they were virtually “untouchable”. It would appear that both man and God were powerless to stop the march of wickedness!
