“But I will hope continually…” Psalm 71:14a

BATTLING FEAR EFFECTIVELY

Fear is an opponent that will not yield ground easily. It is a skilled and deadly combatant. It is thus vital that we learn how to battle fear effectively.

“But I will hope continually,
And will praise You yet more and more.”
Psalm 71:14

1. “Hope”

a) Hope is a powerful weapon that will prevail against the power of fear.
b) The author deployed hope when fear attacked vigorously.
c) If fear spreads dread, then hope offers the light that dispels darkness.

2. “But I will hope continually”

a) Hope must be our north star.
b) Hope provides us guidance when everything else seems dim.
c) Hope beckons the traveller encouragingly to trudge on valiantly.
d) Hope causes the heart to stay brave and courageous.
e) Hope must cause the heart to believe in the future.
f) Hope must be exercised continually to be effective in the war against fear.

3. “And will praise You yet more and more”

a) Praise and hope make a good team.
b) Hope can cause the heart to sing one of its songs in the night.
c) Singing of praise can lift up the heart significantly.
d) Singing of praise to God will dispel fear effectively.
e) The more we praise the more we will be able to defeat fear.
