a) There is confession of sin.
b) There is the seeking of cleansing and comfort from the Lord.

b) Symbolic reference to the Messiah-King is often found.

4. Historical Psalms

In Psalm 68, David attempted a new approach. He wrote what we may call a Historical Psalm. The focus of this type of psalm is the history of Israel. The psalmist offers his special insights into the history of the nation. Only certain aspects are featured- mostly with reference to God’s involvement in the history of the nation.
