Day 276 – Psalm 67

“That Your way may be known on earth…” Psalm 67:2a

GREAT TENSIONS

There were great tensions between Israel and the surrounding nations. Many wars had been fought from the days of Joshua to King David. Some psalms were written as prayers pleading with God to judge the wicked (Psalms 14, 17 etc). These psalms reflect the anguish of the persecuted righteous.

The following text offers a very different and refreshing perspective.

“That Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.”
Psalm 67:2

1. “Your way”

a) It is marked by “mercy” (Psalm 67:1a).
b) It is characterised by “blessing” (Psalm 67:1b).
c) It is evidenced in His face shining on those who believe in Him (Psalm 67:1c).

2. “May be known on earth”

a) If only the earth knew God.
b) If only the earth believed in Him.
c) If only the earth trusted and related to Him.
d) If only the earth experienced His blessings.

3. “Your salvation among all nations”

a) If only all nations truly understood God’s salvation.
b) If all nations were to have experienced God and His salvation.

4) What would have been the results?

a) There would not be wars.
b) Righteousness would prevail over wickedness.
