Day 269 – Psalm 66

“I will pay You my vows.” Psalm 66:13b

MAKING VOWS AND KEEPING THEM

The making of vows was part and parcel of Israel’s religion. There is nothing wrong with making a vow if one is determined to keep it. The following text gives us a glimpse of how a vow was made and kept.

“I will go into Your house with burnt offerings;
I will pay You my vows,
Which my lips have uttered
And my mouth has spoken when I was in trouble.
I will offer You burnt sacrifices of fat animals,
With the sweet aroma of rams;
I will offer bulls with goats.”
Psalm 66:13-15

2. This was a vow of making rather costly offerings

d) Goats

3. I will go into Your house

b) This would be a very public fulfilment of the vows.

4. I will pay my vow
