Day 234 – Psalm 62

“And my refuge, is in God” Psalm 62:7c

ELATION OF SOUL

How wonderful it is to feel an elation of the soul. This sense of elation comes through clearly in the following text.

“In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.”
Psalm 62:7

1. What is soul-elation?

a) It is a powerful sense of confidence.
b) It is an uplifting feeling the soul experiences.
c) It brings forth a great sense of well-being and strength.

2. Wherein is the source of soul-elation?

This is clearly stated. The phrase “In God” was employed twice to suggest that this tremendous sense of confident joy is to be traced to God Himself.

a) In God is salvation.
b) In God is glory.
c) In God there is great strength (“rock of my strength”).
d) In God there is sure and certain refuge.

POWERFUL APPLICATION OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

David’s knowledge of God must have been quite vast. His psalms reflect this truth. Yet, in this psalm, David only applied some very simple truths he possessed and that stood him in good stead.

1. Reiteration of Three facts about God (Psalm 62:2, 6)

a) He is the Rock.
b) He offers Salvation.
c) He is our Defence.

2. Results of applying this knowledge of God

a) There is “elation” (Intimated in the word “glory”) – Psalm 62:7a
b) There is strength – Psalm 62:7b
