Day 232 – Psalm 62

“My soul, wait silently for God alone…” Psalm 62:5

MANY THOUGHTS RUN THROUGH OUR MIND

When we face problems in life, it is natural that many thoughts run through our mind.

1. Some thoughts verge on panic.

2. Others trend towards angry vengeance.

3. Still others may cause a loss of faith in God.

BRINGING CALMNESS TO THE SOUL

David chose to wait upon the Lord as he weighed his options.

“My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.”
Psalm 62:5

1. “My soul”

a) This is like a soliloquy.
b) David addresses his own soul (of course he does not expect a reply from his soul).

2. “Wait silently for God alone”

a) This was what David determined to do from the very start (Psalm 62:1).
b) He determined to be true and steadfast to his original intention.
c) He will wait silently for the Lord to act.
d) He will trust that his dependence on God would not be in vain.

3. “For my expectation is from Him”

a) What were some expectations David might have had?
i) That God would hear and answer his prayer.
ii) That God would deliver him (“salvation”).
iii) That God would be his rock and his defence.
b) A strong hope expressed.

The expectations of David reflected a very strong sense of hope in God.
