Day 48 – Psalm 6

“The LORD has heard the voice of my weeping…” Psalm 6:8b

THE LORD HAS HEARD

David sought God’s mercies with his whole being! He poured out his soul to the Lord in prayer.

“For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
The LORD has heard my supplication;
The LORD will receive my prayer.”
Psalm 6:8b-9

Much-needed assurance to the heart had finally arrived. With this sense of assurance David was able to make the following declarations.

1. The LORD had not failed to hear the prayer of His servant.

2. The LORD had been moved with compassion as He saw the weeping of His servant.

3. The LORD had given due consideration to the manner in which the prayers had been offered.

4. The LORD would always receive such ardent and humble prayers of faith.

A RENEWED SENSE OF COURAGE

With this assurance that God had heard his prayers, David found new courage to face his enemies.

“Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;

Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.”
Psalm 6:8a, 10

1. “Workers of iniquity”

a) David exposes these enemies.
b) He now openly defies them.

2. Warning to these enemies

a) May they feel shame for all their wicked intents and plots against their king.
b) May they turn back… from pursuing wicked thoughts and plans to destabilize the nation through attacking the throne.
c) May they be troubled in heart now that they see David once again restored in strength.
