Day 181 – Psalm 57

“He shall send from heaven and save me…” Psalm 57:3

TRUST LEADS TO POSSESSION OF GREAT ASSURANCE IN LIFE

Trust may be difficult to cultivate and sustain, but it is worth every effort put in! A deep trust in God can bring about a great sense of well-being and assurance in life.

“He shall send from heaven and save me;
He reproaches the one who would swallow me up.
God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.”
Psalm 57:3

1. A close connection

a) Knowledge and trust are very closely connected.
b) Trust is that much more certain when deep knowledge of God is in our possession.

2. Knowledge of what God would do

a) “He shall send from heaven”
i) Divine help would be forthcoming.
ii) Divine help is expected because of a deep relationship with God – sustained by faith.
b) “And save me”
i) This is a wonderful sense of assurance.
ii) This also encourages the believer to trust the Lord with a great sense of certainty.
c) “He reproaches the one who would swallow me up”
i) God does indeed come to the rescue of all who trust in Him deeply.
ii) God will personally reproach the individual attacker who seeks to destroy.
d) “God shall send forth His mercy and His truth”

David knew God very well! He knew that God would preserve His “mercy and truth”! What a comforting though this is! If God sends nothing else, these two blessings would be more than sufficient to eradicate fear and worry!
