Day 95 – Psalm 50

“God will shine forth…” Psalm 50:2b

APPROPRIATE TO HAVE THE HIGHEST REGARD FOR GOD

It is absolutely appropriate and right to have the highest regard for God. King David chose well when he selected Asaph to be one of the spiritual leaders in his kingdom. Asaph’s regard for God was highly instructive and inspirational. All who speak of serving God ought to have a similarly high regard for the Lord.

“The Mighty One, God the Lord,
Has spoken and called the earth
From the rising of the sun to its going down.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
God will shine forth.”
Psalm 50:1-2

1. Recognition of the attributes of God

a) He is the Mighty One.
b) He is the LORD.

2. Recognition of relevance of God and His word

a) He speaks to His people.
b) He communicates with all who would hear Him.
c) He addresses the whole earth.
d) He speaks with faithful regularity to Israel and all mankind.
i) From the rising of the sun
ii) To its going down

3. Tender appreciation of Zion

a) Asaph’s love for Zion is most admirable and would enhance his service for the Lord.
b) In Asaph’s eyes, Zion (Jerusalem) may indeed be called lovingly, “the perfection of beauty”.
c) It was where God had chosen to reside and speak from; its beauty lay in the fact that God had chosen this city above all other places (2 Chronicles 7:12).
