“Let Mount Zion rejoice…” Psalm 48:11
REJOICING IN THE LORD
Everyone who claims to believe in God should find a stirring sense of joy from deep within. Those who dwell in Mount Zion have every reason to rejoice in God.
“Let Mount Zion rejoice,
Let the daughters of Judah be glad,
Because of Your judgments.”
Psalm 48:11
1. “Let Mount Zion be glad”
The following are strong reasons why there should be great gladness of heart:-
a) Because it is a naturally fortified city (2 Samuel 5:6-8).
b) Because it is a well-developed city (2 Samuel 5:9).
c) Because it is the city of God the great King (Psalm 48:1, 2, 8).
d) Because God is in the midst of her (Psalm 48:3).
e) Because God is its Refuge (Psalm 48:3).
f) Because God promised to establish it (Psalm 48:8).
g) Because God has put His name there (1 Kings 9:3).
2. “Let the daughters of Judah be glad because of Your judgments”
a) The mention of “daughters” is not insignificant.
i) Women had very few rights in the ancient days.
ii) The laws of most countries favoured the men rather than the women.
b) God’s laws were a great source of gladness to the heart.
i) They were righteous and fair.
ii) Women were protected by the law that guarded their dignity.
