Day 365 – Psalm 41

“Blessed be the LORD God of Israel…” Psalm 41:13

AN APPROPRIATE CONCLUSION

The following words of David was a fitting conclusion to this psalm that he had written.

“Blessed be the LORD God of Israel
From everlasting to everlasting!
Amen and Amen.”
Psalm 41:13

1. “Blessed be”

a) To bless the Lord is the equivalent of “extolling” Him.
b) This expression must come from the depth of a heart that has experienced the fullness of God’s blessing.

2. “The LORD God of Israel”

a) God was indeed the LORD.
b) He was truly sovereign
c) He had proven Himself to be the faithful Covenant-God of Israel
d) The enemies of David and Israel had not been allowed to triumph!
e) God had defended His people successfully once again

3. “From everlasting to everlasting”

a) God’s Name must be extolled.
b) All Israel must learn to bless the name of their God.
c) The praise of the Lord must be “from everlasting to everlasting”.

4. “Amen and Amen”

a) The word “Amen” may be translated “So let it be!”
b) This is a very strong word of affirmation.
c) David affirms that God’s name must be extolled forever and ever!

All who have experienced the mercy and good pleasure of the Lord would say “AMEN!”
