Day 301 – Psalm 37

“Wait on the LORD and keep His way…” Psalm 37:34

PROMISE OF PROTECTION

What a wonderful promise the Lord has given to the righteous in the following text.

“The wicked watches the righteous and seeks to slay him.
The LORD will not leave him in his hand,
Nor condemn him when he is judged.”
Psalm 37:32-33

1. The wicked

a) Their activities are well described in Psalm 37.
b) He watches the righteous with murderous intent.
c) Given an opportunity he would slay the righteous.

2. God’s protection of the righteous

a) He knows the thoughts and intents of the wicked.
b) He knows the plots of the wicked too.
c) He will not leave the righteous in the hands of the wicked.
d) He will deliver him from the sinister plans of the wicked.
e) He will not condemn the righteous when he is judged by the wicked.

ENCOURAGEMENT TO KEEP WAITING ON THE LORD

David felt that the righteous could do with a further word of encouragement. Thus he wrote,

“Wait on the LORD,
And keep His way,
And He shall exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.”
Psalm 37:34

1. “Wait on the Lord, And keep His ways”

a) The righteous must persevere in his trust in the Lord.
b) He must not falter in keeping the ways of the Lord.

2. “He shall exalt you to inherit the land”

This is a firm promise from the Lord. The wicked will not prevail but be cut off!
