Day 271 – Psalm 34

“The LORD redeems the soul of His servants…” Psalm 34:22a

FURTHER COMMITMENTS OF THE LORD TO THE RIGHTEOUS

Psalm 34 concludes on a very positive note! David was deeply convinced that the righteous will receive all the help they need from the Lord.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken.”
Psalm 34:19-20

1. Afflictions

a) The righteous must expect that they are not free from afflictions in life.
b) He must expect that afflictions will come… “many afflictions”.

2. The LORD’s commitment to the righteous

a) He will deliver the righteous out of all their afflictions.
b) He will carefully guard “all his bones”.

THE WICKED AND THE RIGHTEOUS CONTRASTED

The distinction between the wicked and the righteous is made very clear throughout the Scriptures (The Book of Proverbs). We have a quick glance at how God would deal with the righteous and the wicked in the following text.

“Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.”
Psalm 34:21-22

1. “The wicked”

a) They shall be slain by evil.
b) They shall be condemned because they hate the righteous.

2. “The righteous”

a) They are called His servants.
b) The Lord will redeem their souls and will not condemn them.
