“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous…” Psalm 34:15a
STRIKING IMAGERY EMPLOYED
David was a master at employing strong and striking imagery. He used human features to describe the Lord in the following text.
“The eyes of the LORD are over the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.
The face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.”
Psalm 34:15-16
1. “The eyes of the LORD”
This is a reference to a number of things:-
a) Watchfulness of God
b) Knowledge of God
c) Attention of God to the lives of His saints
2. “The ears of the LORD”
This is a reference to a number of things too:-
a) Sensitivity of God to the prayers of His saints
b) Attention of God to the cries of His people
3. “The face of the LORD”
This is a reference to a number of things as well:-
a) His countenance
b) His attitude
GOD WATCHES OVER THE WICKED AND THE RIGHTEOUS
God’s watchfulness over mankind includes both the wicked and the righteous.
