Day 221 – Psalm 30

“And You healed me.” Psalm 30:2b

A SECOND REASON TO EXTOL THE LORD

It is good to learn to extol the Lord! We now read the second reason why David sought to extol God.

“O LORD my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me.”
Psalm 30:2

1. “O LORD my God”

a) This phrase expresses a number of things:-
i) An existing faith-relationship.
ii) A very personal relationship with God.
iii) A very strong relationship with the Lord God.
b) This phrase also highlights the Lord as
i) The One to whom prayer may be directed.
ii) The One whose sovereign power must be held in awe.

2. “I cried out to You”

a) In desperate times.
b) In times when enemies threaten life itself.
c) In trying times when the soul can only find comfort through faith in God.

3. “And You healed me”

a) The nature of David’s illness is not disclosed.
b) The word “healing” is not without significance.
i) God is the Divine Healer.
ii) Even if medical help is sought, God is still regarded as the Healer.

God’s Divine help in healing is a great reason that should cause us to extol Him!
