Day 333 – Psalm 132

“The LORD has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it…” Psalm 132:11a

REMEMBERING GOD’S COVENANT GIVEN TO DAVID

The next segment of Psalm 132 recalls the Covenant that God gave to David.

“The LORD has sworn in truth to David;
He will not turn from it:
‘I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.
If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I shall teach them,
Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.’
For the LORD has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His dwelling place:
‘This is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will also clothe her priests with salvation,
And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
There I will make the horn of David grow;
I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.
His enemies I will clothe with shame,
But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.'”
Psalm 132:11-18

1. The throne of David

There will be perpetuity if there is a high regard for the Covenant of God.

2. The dwelling place of God

God had chosen Zion to be the place where He would dwell. It will be His “resting place forever”. Jerusalem would indeed be the holy city of God.

3. The blessings promised

a) He will bless with abundant provision.
b) He will meet the needs of the poor adequately.
c) He will give to the priests the ministry of salvation.
d) The saints would have every reason to shout for joy in their worship of God.
e) All enemies would be defeated and would feel shame.
f) The crown of David will flourish… with special reference to the Messianic King.
He will always have the lamp of God to guide Him.
