Day 315 – Psalm 121

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills…” Psalm 121:1a

THE CITY ON A HILL

There was a special love for Jerusalem in the hearts of many a pilgrim. One of the reasons why they would take the trouble to make these pilgrimages was because of a great love for the holy city. Jerusalem was founded on a hill. Looking up to the hills was another special way of making reference to Jerusalem (Psalm 48).

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills-
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.”
Psalm 121:1-4
