Day 300 – Psalm 119:105-112

“Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart.” Psalm 119:111

A GREAT HERITAGE

The psalmist considered the Scriptures as a great heritage. His knowledge and his experience with the Word of God caused him to exult in this glorious gift from God.

“My life is continually in my hand,
Yet I do not forget Your law.
The wicked have laid a snare for me,
Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts.
Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever,
For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes
Forever, to the very end.”
Psalm 119:109-112

1. Tough circumstances of life

2. The testimonies of the Lord

a) The psalmist had sworn that he would keep God’s righteous judgments.
b) He follows through with this commitment made to the Lord (Psalm 119:108-112).
c) He will not forget the laws of God no matter how trying life may be.
d) He will not stray from the precepts of God.
e) He will incline his heart to perform (keep) the statutes of God forever.

3. The Heritage of God’s word

a) There is a recognition of the worth of God’s word.
b) It is worthy to be called “a heritage”.
c) The Word of God can bring great rejoicing to the heart.
d) It deserves to be passed down from one generation to another.

Much wisdom was displayed by the psalmist when he took the Word of God as his heritage.
