Day 244 – Psalm 113

“The LORD’s name is to be praised.” Psalm 113:3b

ADORATION OF GOD

The psalmist adored the Lord! His reasons for adoring the Lord are shared openly in the following text.

“From the rising of the sun to its going down
The LORD’s name is to be praised.
The LORD is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.”
Psalm 113:3-4

1. From the heart of adoring worshippers

a) The proclamation that God’s name ought to be praised.
b) Beautiful expression of this desire to see God’s name honoured.
i) “From the rising of the sun”
When one wakes up in the morning, the heart should offer praise to God.
ii) “To its going down”
When one retires at the end of the day, the heart should be still focused on praising God.

2. “The LORD is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens”

a) All nations may speak of their “glory”.
i) Achievements
ii) Power and might
b) But the LORD is high above all nations
i) By virtue of being the Creator.
ii) By virtue of His Being as God.
iii) By virtue of His being LORD.
c) The greatest glory is found in the LORD God.

If comparison is made between the glory of the nations and that of the Lord, then it would be obvious that God’s glory surpasses everything! Only a heart that has learned to truly love God would be capable of such adoration!
