Day 119 – Psalm 104

“May the glory of the LORD endure forever…” Psalm 104:31a

THE GLORY OF THE LORD

This unknown psalmist is in full agreement with the psalmist David that the heaven and the earth display the glory of the Lord.

“May the glory of the LORD endure forever;
May the LORD rejoice in His works.
He looks on the earth, and it trembles;
He touches the hills, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.”
Psalm 104:31-33

1. “May the glory of the LORD endure forever”

a) Yes, God’s glory will indeed endure forever.
b) The focus is pointed! Does man know how to appreciate the glory of God as manifested in creation?

2. “May the LORD rejoice in His works”

a) God will always rejoice in His works.
b) But would man always rejoice in God’s works?

3. The glory of the Lord may be seen in His power

a) He looks on the earth and it trembles.
b) He touches the hills, and they smoke.
c) Inanimate objects can respond to God; what about man made in God’s image? Would man respond appropriately to the awesome power of God?

4. “I will sing to the LORD as long as I live”

a) This is akin to a vow.
b) The psalmist’s heart is so touched that he commits himself to singing to the Lord.

5. “I will sing praise to my God while I have my being”

This statement complements the one above. This commitment to sing to the Lord and to praise His name while life lasts on earth is a wonderful commitment!
