THE MERCY OF THE LORD

This theme runs strongly in Psalm 103. David had every intention to highlight this vital truth that he had learned throughout his life.

“But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
On those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children’s children,
To such as keep His covenant,
And to those who remember His commandments to do them.
The LORD has established His throne in heaven,
And His kingdom rules over all.”
Psalm 103:17-19

1. The Kingdom of God established

a) His throne is in heaven.
b) He rules in His kingdom.
c) This kingdom is already established with definite and characteristic features.

2. What kind of a King is the Lord?

a) He is a merciful King.
b) Mercy will be the hallmark of His glorious kingdom.
c) His mercy and His righteousness go together.

3. Who are those who fear the Lord?

a) Those who are truly citizens of His kingdom.
b) Those who keep His covenant.
i) Those who know God would appreciate the covenant He has given.
ii) They will treasure and keep His covenant.
c) Those who remember His commandments.
d) Those who faithfully and carefully practise obedience to His commandments.
