“A people yet to be created…” Psalm 102:18b

LOOKING AT THE FUTURE

The psalmist was able to look beyond his personal sorrows. He was able to look at how God could gloriously build up Zion.

“He shall regard the prayer of the destitute,
And shall not despise their prayer.
This will be written for the generation to come,
That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.”
Psalm 102:17-18

1. Truths to be gratefully remembered

a) The prayers of the destitute are not despised by God.

b) He will graciously regard all prayers offered up.

2. Truths to be carefully recorded

a) Great truths ought to be remembered.

b) One great way is to have these truths carefully written down.

3. Important view to bear in mind

a) Good content

i) Prayers offered.

ii) Prayers answered.

b) Written for a future generation

i) That they may learn about God.

ii) That they may know that He will graciously hear and answer prayers.

iii) That they may learn to place their faith in God.

c) Further goals

i) That they may learn how to appreciate this God.

ii) That they may learn how to praise God for who He is and what He has done.
