"You are the helper of the fatherless."

Day 79 – Psalm 10

“You are the helper of the fatherless.” Psalm 10:14d

STRUGGLING WITH PERPLEXING THOUGHTS

The psalmist obviously struggled with his faith in God! Two main thoughts were in his mind!

1. That God seemed to have stood afar off. (Psalm 10:1)

2. That the wicked seemed to be getting away with their evil deeds. (Psalm 10:2-14)

EXERCISING FAITH IN GOD

It was time for the psalmist to exercise his faith in God!

“But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.”
Psalm 10:14

1. “But You have seen”

a) This assertion of faith counters the defiance of the wicked.

“He hides His face, He will never see.”
Psalm 10:11

b) The psalmist needed to believe with all his heart that God has seen all the wicked deeds of the wicked!

2. “You observed trouble and grief”

a) This assertion of faith counters the belief of the wicked.

“God has forgotten…”
Psalm 10:11

b) The wicked believe that God has forgotten those who are in grievous trouble.

3. “To repay it by Your hand”

This assertion counters the arrogance of the wicked.

“You will not require an account.”
Psalm 10:13b

4. “The helpless commits himself to You”

This is an absolutely wise exercise of faith!

5. “You are the helper of the fatherless”

This is a powerful exercise of faith in God! By nature God is inclined to help the helpless and the fatherless! By His commitment to those who believe in Him, God would surely arise to help “the fatherless!”
