MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load.”
Galatians 6:3-5
FALSE SELF-REGARD
1. Paul dealt with a common problem.
a. It had to do with “self-regard”.
b. It is still a problem today.
2. Some think very highly of themselves.
a. They take pride in their race.
b. They take even greater pride in their wealth.
c. Still others take pride in things that they did not personally achieve.
d. But they are in fact, “nothing”.
e. They deceive themselves when they think they are “something”
3. The wise thing to do.
a. To do “self-examination”.
b. To examine candidly one’s own work.
c. If he has done well, then he has every right to rejoice.
d. But he should not take credit for the work done by others.
e. Unfortunately, some will take credit for work they did not do.
4. We are all responsible for our own workload.
a. We are accountable to the Lord.
b. The Lord Himself will assess our work for what it is worth.
May we be found faithful by the Lord!
