MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“What then was the blessing you enjoyed? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me. Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?”

BLESSINGS FORGOTTEN
1. The blessings the Galatians received.
Many blessings were brought by the Apostle Paul. The following may be highlighted:
a. Salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus.
i. The sinful were converted.
ii. Lives were changed for the better.
b. Commencement of a Church community:
i. Where once there was no church.
ii. Believers were able to gather for worship and fellowship.
c. Personal friendship with the Apostle Paul.
i. There was genuine affection between the Galatians and Paul.
ii. They were so privileged to have Paul as the founder of their church.
2. A question raised.
a. Paul asked what had happened to these blessings received?
b. Surely these blessings had been “enjoyed!”
c. One does not normally set aside blessings received.
3. Recalling the special relationship that was once there.
a. The Galatians had a deep and strong relationship with Paul.
b. He believed that they would have plucked out their own eyes to give them to him.
i. This was an idiom to express their affection.
ii. They would have made any sacrifice for him.
4. Enemies now?
a. Paul had preached nothing but the truth.
b. But the evil influences of the false teachers had turned the Galatians against Paul.
c. The truth that Paul had taught was dismissed.
d. The relationship between the Galatians and Paul had soured badly.
e. Paul was now almost seen as an enemy!
