My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)

Text: Luke 9: 37-40
BACK TO MINISTRY
1. The Transfiguration had taken place on a mountain.
2. The Lord Jesus and His 3 Disciples then came down to continue with ministry.
3. A great multitude once again gathered to see Him Luke (9:37).
A MAN FROM THE MULTITUDE
1. He stepped out from the multitude and approached the Lord Jesus.
2. He came with a desperate plea for help.
3. He explained:
a. He had an only child.
b. A spirit would sometimes
i. Seize him.
ii. Make him cry out (in pain).
iii. Convulse him.
iv. He foams in the mouth.
v. He bruises him badly as it leaves him (Luke 9:38-39).
4. He went on:
a. He had brought his son to His disciples.
b. He had asked them to cast out the demon.
c. But they could not do that (Luke 9:40).
A SAD REALITY
1. The Disciples had been given authority and power for ministry (Luke 9:1).
2. There was some success (Luke 9:6).
But they had now met with defeat. The demon had resisted the Disciples!
