My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)

Text: Luke 4: 20-22
READING OF THE SCRIPTURES
1. This was a common practice in synagogues.
2. There was great significance in the public reading of the Scriptures.
Three things may be noted:
a. Focus
It gave focus for the worship at the synagogue.
b. Faith
The faith of the worshippers could be further encouraged and strengthened.
c. Fellowship
A sense of spiritual fellowship can take place as the Scriptures are read.
IN ADDITION
1. Fixing their eyes on the Lord Jesus
a. He must have read the Scriptures very well.
b. All eyes were fixed on the Lord Jesus.
c. They expected Him to make some good comments on the text read.
2. Fulfilment
a. The Lord Jesus made a comment that would not be easily forgotten.
“Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:21
b. This was an astonishing statement.
i. The Lord Jesus was saying that the Spirit was upon Him.
ii. He would be seeking to fulfil all the words of the Scripture.
3. Feelings were mixed
a. All bore witness.
b. They marvelled at what the Lord Jesus had just said.
c. But there were some who were sceptical.
“Is this not Joseph’s son?” Luke 4:22
d. These saw the Lord Jesus as:
i. The son of Joseph.
ii. He was the son of a carpenter.
iii. They could not accept how the Scriptures could be applied to Him!

诵读圣经

b．信心
可以进一步鼓励和加强祟拜者的信心

诵读圣经时可以产生属灵的团契感

1．定睛看主耶稣
a．祂一定是把圣经诵读得非常好
b．所有人都把目光集中在主耶稣身上
c．他们期待祂会对所读的经文做出一些好的评论
2．应验
a．主耶稣做了一个不易被忘记的评论
“ 今天这经应验在你们耳中了。”《路加福音 4：21》
b．这是一个惊人的声明
i．主耶稣说圣灵临在祂身上
ii．祂会寻求应验圣经的所有话语
3．参杂的心情
a．所有人都见证了
b．他们对主耶稣刚才所说的话感到惊奇
c．但也有人持怀疑态度
“这不是约瑟的儿子吗？”《路加福音 4：22》
d．这些人把主耶稣视为：
i．约瑟的儿子
ii．祂是一个木匠的儿子
iii．他们不能接受圣经怎么能应用在祂的身上！
