Text: Luke 20: 34-40

A SIGNIFICANT ANSWER FROM THE LORD JESUS

1. If the Sadducees thought that they could stump the Lord Jesus they were very wrong.

2. The Lord Jesus gave them an answer that was significant in many ways!

“Jesus answered and said to them, ‘The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.’”

Luke 20:34-36

a. Life on earth

i. People marry.

ii. That is normal for “the sons of this age”.

b. Life in heaven.

i. That Age of time is not like this present age.

ii. It may be called “the Age of the Resurrection of the dead”.

iii. People don’t marry in heaven.

iv. There is no death.

v. All resurrected ones are like the angels of God.

vi. They are indeed called “sons of God”.

vii. For they have become “sons of the resurrection”.

GOD OF THE LIVING

“But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.”

Luke 20:37-38

1. The Sadducees declare they believe in the books of Moses (The Pentateuch).

2. The Lord Jesus cited how Moses called the LORD.

a. He is the “the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”.

b. The LORD is not of the dead Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

c. He is the God of the living.

d. Moses believed that the patriarchs were alive in heaven.

e. They were alive in the LORD.

ADMISSION OF THE WISDOM OF THE LORD JESUS

“Then some of the scribes answered and said, ‘Teacher, You have spoken well.’ But after that they dared not question Him anymore.”

Luke 20:39-40

1. The Sadducees did not have a reply to this answer from the Lord Jesus.

2. The scribes (the scholars) had this to say “Teacher, you have spoken well.”

a. Nobody could come up with a response to what the Lord Jesus said.

b. The scribes admired the knowledge and wisdom of the Lord Jesus.

3. The enemies of the Lord Jesus had nothing further to say to the Lord Jesus.

a. They were shown to be arrogant.

b. They were decidedly unspiritual and ignorant too.

主耶稣基督有意义的回应

1. 撒都该人无法通过言语绊倒主耶稣

2. 主耶稣基督给予他们有意义的回应！

“耶稣说：“这世界的人有娶有嫁，唯有算为配得那世界与从死里复活的人，也不娶也不嫁。因为他们不能再死，和天使一样；既是复活的人，就为神的儿子。”

a. 在世上的生活

i. 人们有娶有嫁

ii. 这对于“这世界的人”是正常的

b. 在天国的生活

i. 在天国的生活与世间的生活截然不同

ii. 被称为“从死里复活”的生活

iii. 人们在天国不娶也不嫁

iv. 他们也不能再死

v. 从死里复活的人将会和天使一样

vi. 他们将会被称为神的儿子

vii. 他们成为复活的人

活人的神

“至于死人复活，摩西在‘荆棘篇’上称主是亚伯拉罕的神、以撒的神、雅各的神，就指示明白了。神原不是死人的神，乃是活人的神，因为在他那里人都是活的。””

《路加福音 20:37-38》

1. 撒都该人宣称他们相信摩西所写的篇章 （五经）

2. 主耶稣引用摩西对于上帝的称呼

a. 祂是“亚伯拉罕的神、以撒的神、雅各的神”

b. 上帝不是死人的神

c. 祂是活人的神

d. 摩西相信这些族长们在天国活着

e. 他们在主里活着

承认主耶稣的智慧

“有几个文士说：“夫子，你说得好！”以后他们不敢再问他什么。”

1. 撒都该人无法辩驳主耶稣的回应

2. 几个文士的回应，“夫子，你说得好！”

a. 无人能够反驳耶稣的回应

b. 文士仰慕主耶稣的知识和智慧

3. 主耶稣的敌人无话可说

a. 他们依然傲慢自大

b. 他们选择继续处在于非属灵的理解
