BLESSINGS TAKEN FOR GRANTED

1. Blessings that came from the Lord Jesus were spectacular!

a. Healing
b. Demons cast out
c. Salvation

2. But these blessings were sometimes taken for granted.

The following story illustrated this!

“Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!’”

Luke 17:11-13

a. The region covered “Samaria and Galilee”.
b. There were 10 lepers.
c. They did not dare to come near to people.
d. From a distance, they lifted up their voices (They shouted loudly).

“Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

Luke 17:13

e. The Lord Jesus responded most graciously:

“So when He saw them, He said to them, ‘Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

Luke 17:14

i. He asked them to show themselves to the priests at the Temple.
ii. They must have believed.
iii. All of them were cleansed from their leprosy!
iv. To be healed from this dreadful disease was no small feat!
v. To be a leper in those days was to be among “the living dead”.

ONE LEPER WAS A SAMARITAN

“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, ‘Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?’ And He said to him, ‘Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.’”

Luke 17:15-19

1. The Samaritan leper

a. He glorified God with a loud voice.
b. He returned to the Lord Jesus.
i. He fell down on his face at the feet of the Lord.
ii. He gave thanks!

2. The remark of the Lord Jesus

a. All ten were cleansed.
b. Only one returned to give thanks!
c. Where were the others?

3. A kind word to the Samaritan.

“Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

Luke 17:19

a. His faith was affirmed.
b. He had a special word of encouragement from the Lord Jesus.

OUR CHALLENGE

1. The Lord has blessed us so much.

2. May we never take His blessings for granted!

3. May we always be grateful!

a. 医治

c. 救赎

iii.
