Text: Luke 15: 1-2

THE LORD JESUS MINISTERING TO SINFUL PEOPLE

1. The Lord Jesus called Matthew to follow Him (Luke 5:27-32).

2. He explained why He would spend time with tax collectors and sinners.

a. He was a spiritual Physician.
b. He had come to heal them of their spiritual ailments.
c. To do that, He must spend time with them (Luke 5:31-32).

ANOTHER COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS SPECIAL MINISTRY

1. Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him.

“And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, ‘This Man receives sinners and eats with them.’”

Luke 15:2

2. This complain against the Lord Jesus.

a. This was not new.
b. He had already faced this criticism.
c. He had given an explanation (Luke 5:31-32).
d. But this word had not been accepted.

3. The complainers identified.

a. The Pharisees
b. The scribes (Luke 15:2)

4. Why did they complain?

a. Because they saw the Lord Jesus with the following:
i. Tax collectors
ii. Sinners (Luke 15:1)
b. What they failed to take note of:
i. That they had gathered to “hear Him”.
ii. They were seeking to learn more about God from the Lord Jesus.

5. Their comments reflected the heart of the Pharisees and scribes.

a. They despised people whom they considered sinful.
b. They gave them no chance to learn and to repent.
c. They were self-righteous!
i. They saw themselves as righteous.
ii. But that does not mean that they were truly righteous.

b.文士《路加福音 15:2》

4.他们为什么议论?

a.因为他们看到主耶稣接待下列这些人:

ii.罪人《路加福音 15:1》

b.他们没有注意到:

i.税吏和罪人挨近主耶稣,是要“听祂讲道”

ii.他们要从主耶稣那儿更认识上帝

5.法利赛人和文士们的评论反映了他们的心

a.他们鄙视自己认为有罪的人

b.他们没有给这些人学习和悔改的机会
