Text: Luke 11:24-26
A STERN WORD OF ADMONITION
1. The Lord Jesus went on to speak another Parable.
2. He was obviously speaking to the people who spoke against Him (Luke 11:15).
THE ACTIVITY OF AN UNCLEAN SPIRIT
1. He had decided to leave the host body.
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man”
Luke 11:24a
2. The unclean spirit:
a. He goes through dry places.
b. He seeks rest but he finds none.
c. He decides to return to his previous host (Luke 11:24).
3. Returning to his previous “home”.
a. He comes.
b. He finds it swept clean (Luke 11:25).
4. He looks for companions.
a. He finds seven other spirits.
b. These were more wicked than himself.
c. Now, 8 demons lodge within the human host.
d. The last state of the man was now far worse (Luke 11:26).
5. Application of this Parable.
a. The detractors were identified as Pharisees (Matthew 9:34).
b. They prided themselves in the following ways:
i. They are righteous.
ii. They are superior to sinful people.
iii. They are wise.
iv. They are correct to make allegations against the Lord Jesus.
c. Their true spiritual state.
i. They are blind guides.
ii. They are deluded leaders.
iii. They are of their father, the devil (John 8:38, 41, 44).
