Text: Luke 11: 20-23

THE MINISTRY OF CASTING OUT DEMONS

1. The Ministry of casting out demons by the Lord Jesus had been questioned.

a. He was accused of being in league with Beelzebub, one of the princes of demons.

b. This false charge had to be countered or people may begin to doubt the Lord Jesus.

2. The Lord Jesus patiently and carefully explained His ministry.

a. He had cast out demons by “the finger of God” (Luke 11:20a).

b. This was a phrase found in the book of Exodus.

i. The Egyptians recognised the power of God in Moses.

ii. The plagues were a demonstration of the power of God- “The finger of God” (Exodus 8:19).

3. The Parable of a Strong Man.

a. Satan was compared to a strong man (Luke 11:21).

i. He guards his palace.

ii. He secures his goods.

b. The Lord Jesus was far stronger (Luke 11:22).

i. He overcomes the strong man.

ii. He overcomes Satan.

iii. He takes what was formerly controlled by Satan (demon possession).

iv. The demon-possessed has been transferred out of Satan’s kingdom.

v. He is now part of the Kingdom of God.

c. Application of this Parable.

i. The Lord Jesus has power to cast out demons by the finger of God.

ii. He is showing that the Kingdom of God had come upon them (Luke 11:20b).

4. A Call to be on the side of the Lord Jesus.

a. To be with Him (Luke 11:23a).

b. To gather (souls) with Him (Luke 11:23b).

5. A word of warning given:

a. There were people who were against Him.

b. These were not gathering souls but scattering them (Luke 11:23).

i. 祂战胜了壮士

ii. 祂战胜了撒旦

iii. 祂夺取了以前被撒旦控制的东西（魔鬼所占有的）

iv. 被鬼附的人已被转移出撒旦的国度

v. 祂现在是神的国的一部分

c. 这个比喻的应用

i. 主耶稣有能力通过神的手段赶鬼

ii. 祂表明神的国降临在他们身上《路加福音 11: 20b》

4. 呼召站在主耶稣一边

a. 与祂相合《路加福音 11: 23a》

b. 与祂收聚（灵魂）《路加福音 11: 23b》

5. 警告：

a. 有些人反对祂

b. 这些不是收聚灵魂，而是分散他们 《路加福音 11: 23》
