Text: Genesis 44: 10-13
MEDITATION
Genesis 44:10-13
10 And he said, “Now also let it be according to your words; he with whom it is found shall be my slave, and you shall be blameless.”
11 Then each man speedily let down his sack to the ground, and each opened his sack.
12 So he searched. He began with the oldest and left off with the youngest; and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.
13 Then they tore their clothes, and each man loaded his donkey and returned to the city.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The steward to the sons of Jacob
a. He accepted the words of the brothers.
b. He would bind them to their words.
c. Whoever is found guilty would be a slave.
d. The rest of the brothers would go free because they are not blameworthy.
2. The brothers took down their sacks
a. From the eldest to the youngest.
b. Each brother was confident of his own innocence.
3. The steward searched all the sacks
a. Of course, he found the returned money.
b. But he did not make any comment on the money he had found.
4. The silver cup found
a. The steward found the governor’s silver cup in Benjamin’s sack.
b. According to the words uttered by the brothers and the steward:
i. The guilty one would be put to death (the words of Judah).
ii. The guilty one would be the governor’s slave (the words of the steward).
iii. The rest would be free to go!
5. The response of all the brothers
None of them wanted to go free. They returned to Egypt to see the governor once again.

10家宰说:“现在就照你们的话行吧!在谁那里搜出来,谁就做我的奴仆,其余的都没有罪。”
11于是他们各人急忙把口袋卸在地下,各人打开口袋。
12家宰就搜查,从年长的起,到年幼的为止,那杯竟在便雅悯的口袋里搜出来。13他们就撕裂衣服,各人把驮子抬在驴上,回城去了。
