MEDITATION
Genesis 22:13-14
13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns.
So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The provision of a sacrificial ram
a. Abraham told his son that God would provide a lamb for the sacrifice.
b. His faith in the LORD was not in vain.
c. God did provide a lamb for the special worship at Mount Moriah.
d. Abraham took the ram and then offered it as a burnt sacrifice.
e. The meaning of the sacrifice of a burnt offering took on greater significance.
2. The name of the place
a. The-LORD-Will-Provide.
b. This was a memorial and symbolic name.
c. The focus:
i. The LORD
ii. His provision
3. A perpetual name
a. This story would become part of the history of Abraham.
b. It would be passed on from one generation to another.
c. All will be reminded of this great and awesome truth.
i. That God will always provide.
ii. He is a God to be held in greatest reverence.
