Text: Genesis 22: 11-12
MEDITATION
Genesis 22:11-12
11 But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”
12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. “The Angel of the LORD”
a. He called out to Abraham from heaven.
b. This was an urgent word that Abraham must hear.
2. Abraham heard the Angel of the LORD
a. He was sensitive to Him.
i. The voice need not necessarily be audible.
ii. It would require sensitivity to the LORD to hear His “voice”.
b. He was alert to the leading of God.
c. Humbly he replied, “Here I am.”
3. Important message
a. Isaac is not to be harmed.
b. That Abraham truly fears the LORD is now confirmed.
i. Fear of the LORD is great reverence.
ii. It expresses itself in full obedience.
iii. There is complete acceptance of whatever word God has given.
4. The Test
a. Whether Abraham would give up his son if God desired it.
b. Abraham’s faith was tested and he proved that he was very faithful.
