Text: Genesis 17: 23-27
MEDITATION
Genesis 17:23-27
23 So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him.
24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26 That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael;
27 and all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Total obedience of Abraham to the LORD concerning the rite of circumcision
a. Abraham was circumcised though he was 99 years old.
b. Ishmael was circumcised at 13 years of age.
c. All the men in his household were also circumcised.
i. Those who were born in his household.
ii. Those who were bought from foreigners were similarly circumcised.
2. “As God had said to him”
a. Abraham began to learn how to heed every word given to him by the LORD.
b. The regard for the Word of the LORD:
i. This was taken seriously.
ii. Faith was involved.
iii. Obedience was there too.
iv. The fear or reverence of the LORD was practised more and more.
v. The obedience of Abraham became a hallmark of his life.

23正当那日，亚伯拉罕遵着神的命，给他的儿子以实玛利和家里的一切男子，无论是在家里生的，是用银子买的，都行了割礼。
24亚伯拉罕受割礼的时候，年九十九岁。
25他儿子以实玛利受割礼的时候，年十三岁。
26正当那日，亚伯拉罕和他儿子以实玛利，一同受了割礼。27家里所有的人，无论是在家里生的，是用银子从外人买的，也都一同受了割礼。
