我夜间的歌曲《出埃及记》
Text: Exodus 32: 13-14
MEDITATION
Exodus 32:13-14
13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’”
14 So the LORD relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Moses continued to pray to the Lord humbly
a. Prayer should be something we must continue to do.
b. Moses continued to plead.
2. He now added this plea
a. That God would remember the patriarchs of old.
i. Abraham
ii. Isaac
iii. Jacob
iv. Moses called them the Lord’s “servants.
b. That God would also remember His promise made to them.
i. That He would multiply their descendants.
ii. That He would give them the Promised Land of Canaan.
c. The word “remember” has the following nuances:
i. It does not mean that God has forgotten, and he needs to be reminded. (That is what human beings need from time to time.)
ii. It is an appeal to God’s mercy.
iii. It is an appeal to God’s grace to be given so that His promises would be fulfilled.
iv. It is an appeal to God to remember His servants and pass their reward to their descendants.
v. Intercession always involves continued prayers.
3. God graciously answered the prayer of Moses
a. He relented from the harm that He has threatened.
b. He would not consume Israel after all.
Our hearts must be encouraged to know that the Lord would hear humble intercessory prayers!
