Text: Exodus 3: 16-17
MEDITATION
Exodus 3:16-17
16 Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt;
17 and I have said I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. God’s Plan for Moses
a. To gather the elders of Israel.
b. To speak to them.
c. To bring a word of encouragement to them.
d. The elders represented the children of Israel.
e. It would be physically impossible to speak to every single individual in Israel.
2. God’s word to the elders (to be delivered to all the children of Israel)
a. God’s name was to be proclaimed:
i. The God of Abraham
ii. The God of Isaac
iii. The God of Jacob
b. God’s visit to Moses was to be shared.
i. God had called Moses.
ii. He had caused a burning bush to appear to draw Moses to Himself.
c. The message to be delivered:
i. God had seen and visited the children of Israel in Egypt.
ii. He is aware of all the suffering that the Egyptians had inflicted upon them.
iii. He will deliver them.
iv. He will take them out of Egypt.
v. He will bring them out to a land that would be fertile and rich, “A land flowing with milk and honey”.
vi. This was the land of their forefathers.
“The land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.”

16 你去招聚以色列的长老,对他们说:‘耶和华你们祖宗的神,就是亚伯拉罕的神、以撒的神、雅各的神,向我显现,说:我实在眷顾了你们,我也看见埃及人怎样待你们。’17 我也说:‘要将你们从埃及的困苦中领出来,往迦南人、赫人、亚摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人的地去,就是到流奶与蜜之地。’
