Text: Exodus 23: 20-22
MEDITATION
Exodus 23:20-22
20 “Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.
21 Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him.
22 But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. God’s Angel
a. This may be a reference to one of the angels of God.
b. It may also be a reference to a human messenger of God.
c. The word “angel” means “messenger”.
d. It could also be a veiled reference to The Angel of God.
i. He would sometimes make His appearance known.
ii. He made Himself known to Hagar (Genesis 16).
2. The special tasks given
a. He would specially protect the children of Israel along the way.
b. He would bring them to the place where God had prepared.
That would be the land of Canaan.
3. Proper regard must be given
a. He is to be given heed.
b. He is to be obeyed.
c. He is not to be provoked.
d. He will not pardon transgressions.
i. Transgressions which are deliberate.
ii. Transgressions which are evil.
iii. Transgressions that are not repented of.
4. God’s name is in Him
a. He will have God’s authority.
b. He will have God’s power.
5. If there is obedience to Him
a. God will be their Defender.
i. Israel’s enemies would be God’s enemies.
ii. Israel’s adversaries would be God’s adversaries.
b. This was a wonderful promise God made to the children of Israel

20“看哪，我差遣使者在你前面，在路上保护你，领你到我所预备的地方去。
21他是奉我名来的，你们要在他面前谨慎，听从他的话，不可惹他，因为他必不赦免你们的过犯。
22你若实在听从他的话，照着我一切所说的去行，我就向你的仇敌做仇敌，向你的敌人做敌人。23我的使者要在你前面行，领你到亚摩利人、赫人、比利洗人、迦南人、希未人、耶布斯人那里去，我必将他们剪除。”
